Taylor's Awesome Book Reviews

Check out some of my reviews of some awesome books!

New Month Means New Goals

on August 5, 2013

Ok!  For the month of July, I wrote/posted the following reviews:

  1. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
  2. Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L.James
  3. Wake by Lisa McMann
  4. Dogs, Dogs, Dogs! by Anne Emerick
  5. Fables, Volume 1 by Bill Willingham
  6. The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
  7. Dylan’s Day by Tim Hutchinson
  8. Apocalyptic Organ Grinder by William Todd Rose
  9. The FastDiet Cookbook by Mimi Spencer, Sarah Schenker, Michael Mosley (Foreword)
  10. Plague Year by Stephanie S. Tolan

10 books for my first month seems like a good start to me… Of course, my goal is to do even better for August!  One issue – I am already behind as it is already August 5.  The good news about the issue?  I have a plan that accounts for this setback.  So – HA! (I don’t know who I’m laughing at, other than the paranoid part of my brain that questions if I should even try reviewing books in the first place … But that is beside the point…

THE ULTIMATE AUGUST PLAN (or something to that extent… maybe… Or something less dramatic?) …. Anyway, my goal is to have ONE review POSTED per day.  Yep, that’s right!  One reviewed book per day for the month of August!  (It’s ok, gasp in the amazing-ness that is this plan.)  So, how am I going to do this as I obviously do not have the time/ability to read one book per day for every day in August (Ok, maybe if they were children’s books… But where’s the fun in that?)…   Well, I’ll let you in on a secret.  I have several reviews (and by several I mean over 100) typed up and posted on goodreads (now my official number on there is much higher than the books that I have actually reviewed… I just wrote some reviews that essentially said “I would have liked to have read this book because…”  Why did I do that?  Well, mostly because I want the authors to know that I’m not just entering in the contests, etc. just to get a book.

BUT WAIT – there’s more to my August plans!  A review (for me) will not be posted until it is on ALL of the following sites (with the exceptions of the “when applicable” ones…):

  1. Goodreads
  2. WordPress (aka this blog!)
  3. LibraryThing (which I still need to figure out…)
  4. Netgalley (when applicable)
  5. Edelweiss (when applicable) (I also need to figure this site out …)
  6. Amazon
  7. Books a Million
  8. Barnes and Noble

Which means those 10 posts that I mentioned earlier …. Well, they need to be posted on more of those sites.

Now I know, I know – you are probably thinking “Oh no!  It’s already the early evening of August 5!  You’ll never be able to catch up AND meet your own deadlines!” And I would agree with you … But of course, I won’t.  The goal: have the 10 posts on here on the other sites posted by TONIGHT!  (cue gasp)  And then (yes, there’s more!)  … Tomorrow during the day, I shall begin to write up the 6 reviews that I should have had done had I been paying attention to the dates…

So, what titles will I be reading (being a reviewer means constant reading and writing (erm, reviewing), yes?  Well, I cannot make any promises, but the following titles will hopefully be reviewed by the end of August:

  1. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
  2. The Forgotten Ones by Laura Howard (it’s an ebook and the poor thing keeps getting ignored…)
  3. Bestiary for Business by Erika Schelby
  4. True Crime edited by Lee Gutkind

… There’s more, but these are the ones that are the closest (physically) to me that I know that I want/need to read.

So, off I go to catch up on my reviews on these different sites.  Wish me luck!

Have a great day!

Good Luck! I started out trying to post a review everyday and that lasted about a week, lol. I have a notebook of reviews that need to be typed (some for books I may end up needing to re-read because the review has faded. Don’t worry they’re part of the Iron Druid Chronicles so I will be in so much pain.) So at some point, I would like to get those posted (maybe that’s what I will do on Tuesdays, if I don’t have a new review scheduled. Tomorrow I am aiming to complete and review Grim City). Anyhoo. Good luck with your 31 reviews this month, and don’t stress out if it doesn’t happen- cause you know you’ll be part of the inner circle of reviewing. LOl
